457 Design Studio

I started my little business in December 2020 as a way of sharing my interest in and passion for jewellery making.

All designs have been lovingly created by me, in my small little studio using either a cricut joy or sizziz cutting machine in the beautiful city of Adelaide in South Australia. I love experimenting with different colours, textures, shapes and designs and therefore many of my creations may be a one off design. I also love creating custom pieces so please don't be afraid to contact me with a request.

Using vegan and eco friendly materials is very important to me. My creations are mostly made from cork fabric sourced from Portugal and Kraft-tex washable paper fabric. I only use the highest quality materials for my earring findings such as 316 or 304 grade stainless steel hooks and nickel and lead free charms.

What is Cork Fabric?
Sometimes known as vegan leather Cork is composed of dead cells that accumulate on the outer surface of the cork oak tree (Quercus Suber) that mostly grows in the southwest Europe and northwest Africa regions. Unless otherwise stated I source my cork from Portugal. Once harvested it is then is bonded to a cotton/polyester blend fabric.
Naturally occurring differences may be present such as colour variations and uneven surface texture. These are not flaws or defects in the product and add to the beautiful character of each piece.
It can be wiped with a damp cloth but not washed or immersed in water (Please do not take your earrings swimming with you or into the bath or shower).

What is Kraft-tex?
Kraft-Tex is a rugged washable paper that looks, feels and wears like leather, but cuts, sews and washes like fabric. It is supple and lightweight, yet strong enough to use for projects that get tough wear. It is a vegan and eco-friendly, colour-fast, and tear-resistant alternative to leather.  It can be wiped with a damp cloth (Please do not take your earrings swimming with you or into the bath or shower).
