Leci Hampton brings together my love of flowers, woodwork, resin and mosaic work to create a selection of jewellery, homewares and wall hangings.

 

My love of working with flowers comes from a childhood of weekends spent with my grandparents in their garden picking for their roadside stall and sitting for hours shelling peas with all my aunties and cousins from their vegetable garden. Still to this day our extended family helps my grandma now 98 years old pick and sell her flowers.

 

So naturally my next step was to combine any off cuts of these flowers into my artwork, incorporating them into resin earrings or dried flower wreaths and then incorporating these designs into my woodburning or mosaic pieces of art. If the season is right I’ll also be lucky to have some of grandmas Protea bunches or Pussy Willow on my stall as well.
